9 Commission to have regard to Government policy

9. Commission to have regard to Government policy---(1) In the performance of its functions and the exercise of its powers under this Act, the Commission shall have regard to the general policy of the Government in relation to the Māori language, as that policy is communicated to the Commission from time to time by the Minister by notice in writing.

(2) As soon as practicable after giving to the Commission a notice under subsection (1) of this section, the Minister shall publish in the Gazette and lay before Parliament a copy of the notice.
